Waverley Model Railway Club was formed in 1970 by a small group of like minded model railway enthusiasts. Today we number some 60 members from many walks of life. Our membership includes retired railwaymen, electrical and electronics experts, carpenters and builders, public servants and professional people, basically anyone who has an interest in railways. We have junior members as well as retirees.
We are based in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs, with our main clubroom in North Dandenong.
Our members modelling interests cover North American, European, British, Japanese and of course Australian prototypes, in scales from N, HO/OO to G. We have a number of exhibition layouts with two more under construction. The most well-known of these are the HO scale Victorian Railways layout Victoria Bridge, the OO scale British layout Ashford and Littlemore and the N scale American layout Baldwin and Oswego which has just undergone a major revamp.
We meet regularly on Thursday evenings, and also have sessions for layout construction and maintenance, train operation and model making. We have members who are highly experienced in layout construction, electrical wiring and model making.
Our clubrooms contain a meeting room and a library, from which members may borrow books, videos or DVDs.
